Testing your APIs is as important today as testing complete UI workflows. In our connected world, APIs are the bond that holds it all together. Although APIs are basically invisible to your users, if there is a slow or underperforming API, everybody feels the pain. Hence, we have recently made substantial improvements to our API performance testing. If you use Postman for your API development, you can already import your workflows directly from Postman and upload them into Nouvola DiveCloud with a single click. Or for mobile testing, you can record mobile API transactions via Nouvola DiveProxy.
But not all of us use Postman. Sometimes you need to build your API requests from scratch to test something quickly. To accommodate the popular demand for this kind of testing workflow, Nouvola now offers a very powerful UI-based platform to build API requests and relevant data.
Here’s the step-by-step:
- Create your API workflow by selecting the method you need to use and the API end point.
- Add data / payload as needed.
There you go! At this point, this session is treated like any other session in DiveCloud. It can be used in any test plan, so you’ll have the full power of the feature set at your disposal to run tests using your new API workflow. You can also extract parameters, introduce variables, and randomize data, like for any other session.
